Franck and Franck-Bertacci Photograph Collections are full of pictures of New Orleans during the middle of the twentieth century that feature the different businesses serving the city. Though the photos are less than 75 years old, they highlight a pre-digital yet still modern New Orleans that was part of our parents' and grandparents' everyday lives. Kure Croker, Special Collections Registrar and Archivist at Loyola University's Monroe Library, exhibits a digital mapping project that puts these photographs back into their geographical context using digital mapping technology. Kure's project is usable on all kinds of devices, encouraging users to take the map with them and explore today's landscape to see how it has changed over the years.
