Anchor Bible Commentaries Are Here!
Just in time for Easter (and finals)
Monroe Library now offers online access to the Yale Anchor Bible Commentaries!
Monroe Library would like to extend a big “thank you” to everyone who participated in last semester’s trial of the online version of Yale’s Anchor Bible Commentaries. Usage statistics and community recommendations were so positive that the library prioritized this important acquisition. We’ve long had the Anchor series available on our shelves in print format. Loyola’s expansion of online offerings and growing numbers of remote students makes getting this kind of digital resource a great help for students outside of the Greater New Orleans area.
This database comes with an interface that allows users to navigate quickly through a wealth of theological background information, reflection, and interpretation. Its online publisher, Bloomsbury, describes the extent of its contents: “Anchor Yale Bible Commentaries span over 86 volumes and is one of the most trusted and long-running scholarly commentaries series for Biblical Studies scholars. This prestigious commentary series represents the pinnacle of biblical scholarship.” The commentaries feature an array of international, interfaith contributors.
To access these commentaries, just go to our A-Z databases list and look under the A’s for “Anchor.” After clicking on the database’s link, off-campus users will need to log in using their SSO credentials. (Users on campus should be taken directly to the resource without the need to log in.) Take a look!
We’re so thrilled to be providing digital access to this wonderful, robust resource. We hope it helps our users with research this spring and beyond.
